We were informed by a Kia official yesterday that the camouflauge will be coming off for the Forte prototypes sometime this week. It looks like they have begun because amateur shots of the Forte undisguised are hitting the web already. The Forte is slated to roll into Korean showrooms on August 21st, with a North American launch sometime in 2009.

Hey William, since you can read Korean and I can't, gotta ask: have any real specs been released on the engines on the kia.co.kr site? Most specifically, CC's and not just 1.6L and 2.0L so that we can tell if these are still the Beta II or if the new cars will pick up the Theta II engines? Thanks and keep up the excellent work.
As of now, Kia's website does not release any official information on the Forte's specifications. The engines the Forte will pack are all brand new ones, so I cannot determine the details such as the CCs for now.
Speculations and a bit of common sense tell us that Kia will ditch the Beta II for good. Both Hyundai and Kia are making the switch to the more powerful and efficient Theta II family. I have only acquired information that the Forte will be powered by either a 1.6L 124 horsepower 4-cylinder or a more potent 2.0L engine. When I receive the information, I'll make a post on it immediately. Seeing the recent trend of leaked information and pictures of the Forte, I predict the specifications are only days away from slipping too.
