Kia Motors is set to launch an all-new premium executive car, code-named "VG", this November in South Korea. Previewed earlier this year at the Seoul International Motor Show with the KND-5 Concept, the Schreyer-designed sedan will slot between the Optima/Magentis and Amanti/Opirus when it hits the showrooms later this year. Kia Motors has recently confirmed that the Korean-market "VG" will be named "K7" and will be the first vehicle in the line-up to adopt the brand's new alphanumeric nomenclature system.
The K7 will be available with a wide variety of fuel-efficient four- and six-cylinder engines, including a 2.4L Theta II inline-4 and a 3.5L Lambda II V6. The 2.4L four-cylinder engine will feature Kia’s latest direct injection gasoline (GDI) technology and generate 201 horsepower. The more potent 3.5L V6, also found in the new Sorento, produces 279 horsepower and 247 lb.ft of torque. In the Korean market, the K7 will also be available in a smaller 2.2L inline-4 configuration. All engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The forthcoming K7 sedan will be equipped with a plethora of innovations and features including LED headlamps and taillamps, available ventilated front seats, parking guide system, rear heated seats, panoramic sunroof, and lane-departure warning system.
The K7 will share the same front-wheel drive configuration as the next-generation Hyundai Azera/Grandeur (HG). Rumors also report that a Haldex all-wheel drive configuration will also be available.
The domestic-market K7 sedan will reach Korean showrooms late November of this year, while North American and European sales are scheduled to commence in mid-2010. Stay tuned for frequent spy shot and information updates in the weeks to come.

fantastic!
Looks AWESOME! I compared the interior shot to the Hyundai Azera, Genesis Sedan, and Equus. I would consider this interior to be just below the Equus in terms of looks and quality. With the "VG" being the flagship Kia, I wonder if they will make a new Hyundai Azera or just dump it. Please offer AWD in this new Kia. :-)
Surprising amount of the KND-5 concept made it into production interior.
I surely hope the K7 name doesn't come to N. Amer. Sounds too much like nomenclature for a truck line-up.
Anyone have any idea when the HG Azera/Grandeur will be introduced or at least when we should be seeing some spy pictures of it?
Very sharp. Looks very upscale.
The Pill
Ripoff of the Jaguar XF, par for the course for some.
Have you seen the XF?? You must mistake a rock for a diamond buddy.
Notice that you won't even put your name on your XF comment. No wonder. Get some glasses or contacts.
schreyer's designs are hit and miss. c`mon, we are expecting for a design that will make the world WOW, like what hyundai did to sonata and tucson.
but with kia, specifically optima, the upcoming sorento and this k7 it's just as bland as before. nothing special, nothing fantastic. and it looks that it will get outdated in the next 2 years.
but he did a good job in forte and soul. nonetheless, it's just a boring, conservative design.
I live in Korea and just wating for my new KIA K7 - See Link for KIA K7

Nothing new to see here but I wish they would sell it in the US. I was stationed in the ROK and it seemed as if just about everybody had one of these KIA K5 or K7 models which look a lot like the Samsung SM5 & SM7.
Kia do well in the US and far east. I wish they would bring more of these models out in the UK. As they are releasing the Optima here soon, maybe this will follow it later.
