After a long hiatus of spy shots of the next-generation Hyundai Elantra, we have the first clear images of the completed interior of the brand's popular compact offering. From these shots, it is evident that Hyundai has ditched the conservative design of the current Elantra in favor of a rather radical and polarizing one.
Code-named 'MD', the redesigned Elantra is yet another rendition of Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture design theme that is also conveyed in the new Sonata and Tucson. The 2011 Elantra sedan will feature a sportier overall appearance, with larger front grille, stretched head-lamps, steeper windshield rake and lower roof-line.
As for now, we have no confirmed details on 2011 Elantra’s engine options but you can expect to see Hyundai’s new 2.0L Theta four-cylinder engine placed under its hood. In addition, Hyundai will probably introduce a 1.6L four-cylinder engine in the entry-level, Elantra Blue model, which will achieve above average mileage thanks to the applied gasoline direct injection technology.
The sales date has not been confirmed for the 2011 Elantra. However, sources report that the launch date is tentatively scheduled for July of 2010. Our take? With Hyundai's 24/7 in full force, we expect the Elantra to be launched much earlier, especially considering the fact that the new compact sedan is next in line for unveiling according to the brand's plan. We will see for now.

Interior looks a bit plasticky and I wish Hyundai would get rid of faux silver for piano black, other than that the design itself is progressive and stylish.
Exterior looks nice so far although those wheels are waay too small. Are there anymore pics of the exterior available?
I have to admit that I am impressed with the look of this new redesigned Elantra. I'm not a fan of the exterior of the current model but have test driven it and can say that it has solid driving dynamics.
So, with this complete redesign, especially of the exterior, the upcoming new 2010 Elantra will address one of the major shortcomings of the current model.
I think Hyundai has finally found the right ingredients for their recipe for success, it's called "Fluidic".
Nice job Hyundai!
This looks like a base trim model. I dont see Push button start, Leather, etc... Hyundai is supposed to be a somewhat upmarket company now.
I mean you can get leather in a KIA Forte for only $1000 extra in the mid trim level, so I guess this a "Blue" model, or a base trim GLS.
It looks very nice though.

Its not plasticky in reality though when you touch it in the current gen Elantra. Anyway, Hyundai Interiors look best in all black with chrome, faux silver, black leather/cloth. But, if they can make it look in good Black with drab (yucky) gray like they did, then its a good interior.

Save the Pics and Blow them up. There's some Piano Black materials in there. Just look at the details in the center console. Sweet!!

Also the dirt/oil stain on the passenger side dash indicates a higher quality of plastic than what the pics show. Well see, as new Hyundai Products look nice in pics, but feel and look stunning in person. Like 5-10 times better in person.
The Current gen Elantra looks more Plasticky in pics than how it actually feels when you get inside. There some nice, dare I say Audi-ish plastics in that car. I was very impressed at the level of quality materials in the Current gen Elantra.
The center Console and a portion of the door felt cheap, but the other materials on the dash felt like what you would find on some of the $23,000 cars, in a $16,000 car. So I expect this Elantra to be even better.

Smoke, definitely agree this looks like a base model especially with all those "toys" you mentioned that are missing on this pre-production mule.
Still like what I see going on in the interior though.
Why are they going away from the great cup holders they currently have. The ones with the retractable nubs that grip your cup are great. I just sat in the new Tuscon and I can see from these pics that they just have a standard hole for a cup holder. That, in my opinion is a step backwards.
2010 Blue Hyundai Elantra is the basis of the baseline Elantra sedan. Introduced this year, before the Blue-wheel drive is powered by a 2-liter four-cylinder (138 horsepower, 136 lb-ft of torque) mated to a five-speed manual transmission with overdrive that gets 26 city / 35 mpg on the highway. Blue has antilock brakes on all four wheels and rides on steel wheels with tires 15 inches wide temporada-P195/65TR15-.
