Spied: 2011 Kia K5 (Magentis) Caught on Streets Undisguised!

Kia K5
Sent in by a reader named Sanghoon from Korea, we have the first images of the all-new Kia K5 mid-size sedan (Magentis/Optima in other markets) prowling the public roads sans camouflage. The particular model in these images appears to be the base model, as indicated by the 16-inch alloy wheels. Has a base model of any mid-size car looked this good? Feel free to tell us in the comments below.

Information Article on the K5 (Magentis/Optima) HERE.

I notice the steel front fenders and rear quarter panels are getting smaller with every new model year. This is not only happening with Kia, it is also happening will all of the auto manufacturers. The crash test still are good and that is what counts in the end, but it seams soon the body exteriors will all be plastic. GM Saturn was ahead of its time I guess. I liked it because the car always looked nice door and fender dings from the parking lot never happened. The K5 looks real nice, I hope it also gets a nice power plant under the hood.

Developed under the TF codename, the K5 uses the same front-wheel drive Type-N platform as the recently launched Hyundai Sonata and Kia K7 sedans.

Launch engines consist of Hyundai-Kia’s existing 1.8 and 2.4-litre gasoline I4s, while the existing model’s 2.0-litre diesel will be replaced by the more modern 2.2-litre R-engine. A gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain is due to be added in Korea, Canada and the United States in 2011.

What's the expected price range guys. I gauge it would be higher than the latest Sonata 2.0 High Spec (RM145K) somewhere about RM153-RM160K! I was about to put down for a Sonata 2.0 High Spec until I was told to wait for the K5. I hope the price does not go higher than RM160K or it'll be instead of a K5... it's a K9 on my wallet!!!

Another thing...hope Naza does not consume the dealership individually and to alter the CBU to local fittings though the price could be lower by 12-15%.

still looks cheap, doesn't look solid. would be hard to feel safe in a car such as this.

Five star crash rating, not safe!?! You clearly must have paid more for your ride.

I can't believe anyone could possibly use the word "cheap" to describe this car. It's german designers have created an absolutely stunning car! I want one!
